Gordon State College offers numerous associate degrees and baccalaureate degrees designed to meet the needs of our students. These programs are delivered throughout Gordon State's three Schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education, and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Bachelor's of Science in Biology and Biology with Secondary Education Certification
The BS in Biology and BS in Biology – Teacher Certification track is designed for students following many different career/educational paths after graduation. Some of these include: a graduate program in Biology, High School Biology Teacher, Dental school, Medical school, Veterinary school, doctor of pharmacy program, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, Occupational Therapy program, Physician Assistant program, Respiratory Therapy program, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, and Wildlife Biology.
Bachelor's of Science Early Childhood Education/Special Education
The program of studies focuses on preparation for a Georgia teaching certificate in Elementary Education and General Special Education for Pre-K through grade 5. This combination of training enables our graduates to be highly qualified to meet the increased expectations of teaching children with mild disabilities who are included in general education classrooms.
Bachelor's of Arts in English and English with Secondary Education Certification
Every English major at Gordon State College will receive the training necessary to become perceptive readers, skilled writers, and independent thinkers. A degree in English prepares graduates for a wide array of professional settings requiring highly developed writing and communications skills such as business, editing, public relations, or electronic media. It will also provide a strong foundation to those students who wish to pursue graduate or professional studies in a variety of disciplines such as communications and media, technical writing, English, law, or American Studies. It will prepare students to meet Georgia Performance Standards in English/Language Arts.
Bachelor's of Science in Health Information Management
The Health Information Management (HIM) program prepares the student for a professional career as a member of the health care team. The HIM professional is responsible for obtaining statistical information, maintaining the confidentiality of the medical record, and maintaining compliance in all medical code assignments. As a health care professional, the HIM professional is required to adhere to the code of ethics as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association.
Bachelor's of Arts in History and History with Secondary Education Certification
A Bachelor of Arts degree in History provides a general understanding of the complex factors that influence human behavior. History students gain proficient skills in written and oral communication, conscientious and exacting in research, and thoroughly grounded in the skills of analysis and interpretation. Graduates have ultimately pursued careers in a wide variety of fields from education to public service. Moreover, history remains among the premier pre-professional degrees for students intending to study law or medicine.
Bachelor's of Science in Human Services
Gordon’s program is unique among Human Services degrees in incorporating business, government, and economics courses in addition to the customary sociology and psychology curriculum. While graduates of the program will receive excellent preparation for various master’s and doctoral programs, the primary emphasis of the curriculum will be to provide practical, real-world training so that graduates can gain immediate employment. Human Service professionals can expect to find employment in a wide variety of settings, including government and private social service agencies, vocational rehabilitation facilities, substance abuse centers, and residential facilities treating the elderly and intellectually challenged.
Bachelor's of Science in Management and Administration
The Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration at Gordon State College is designed to prepare the student for a career in management. This program focuses on managerial functions, processes, and skills and equips the student to effectively respond to complex organizational challenges. Featuring courses in Managerial Economics, Financial Management, Management Information Systems, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Managerial Marketing, International Management, and Service Management, the BSMA is designed to prepare the student to guide the new business venture, a major corporation, public service agency, or nonprofit organization through ever-changing cultures and environments.
Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics and Mathematics with Secondary Education Certification
The program is designed for students following many different career/educational paths after graduation. Some of these include: Actuarial Science, Operations Research, Biomathematics, Computer Science, Cryptography, Finance, Mathematics Graduate Programs, and Statistician.
Bachelor's of Science in Middle Grades Education
If you are called to teach, Gordon State College will provide you every advantage. This program is designed with concentrations in language arts, mathematics, reading, science and social studies. Gordon State College teacher education graduates will make a difference in the lives of the students and communities they serve. Their careers will build on the foundations of competence and disposition of character which were initially guided and shaped in their professional preparation at Gordon. In this regard, our program has a reputation among leaders in schools for the distinctive quality and capability of a "Gordon" teacher. Successful graduates will earn a teaching certificate in the State of Georgia for grades 4-8.

The mission of the Nursing Program is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by entry-level professional nurses to give direct care to their lifespan in a variety of health care settings.
RN to BSN Completion Degree
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is an articulation program which offers registered nurses the opportunity to obtain this degree through a RN-BSN Completion Program. The program emphasizes professional development, research, health promotion, community health and leadership. Courses in the RN-BSN completion program are designed using a combination of classroom interaction and online instruction.
Associate of Science in Business Administration
The Associate of Science in Business Administration is designed to provide students with the basic understanding of business, accounting, and economic principles needed to begin work or to make a seamless transition into a bachelor’s degree program in management and administration, business administration, marketing, accounting, or a host of other specialties. This degree prepares students to succeed in the Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration at Gordon State College and includes core courses accepted by Business Administration degree programs throughout the country.
Associate of Science in Chemistry
The Associate of Science in Chemistry degree will prepare students for an entry-level position as chemical technicians in industrial laboratories or research laboratories. This degree will also allow students to pursue a baccalaureate degree in chemistry.
Associate of Science in Computer Science
The Associate of Science degree in Computer Science enables students to gain and apply a knowledge of computing and mathematics, to analyze problems and identify correct computing solutions using current tools, techniques, and skills. Successful students will understand professional, ethical, legal, security, and social issues and responsibilities, and can analyze the impact and need of computing on individuals, organizations, and society.
Associate of Science in Criminal Justice
The Associate of Science in Criminal Justice degree prepares students to enter into demanding career fields in the essential areas of law enforcement, corrections, criminal law, and investigations. The degree also prepares students to succeed in the Bachelor of Science in Human Services at Gordon State College.
Associate of Science in Engineering
The Associate of Science degree in Engineering enables students to gain and apply knowledge of computing, physics and mathematics, to analyze engineering problems and identify correct engineering solutions using current tools, techniques, and skills. Successful students will be able to transfer to any four year ABET accredited school within or outside the USG system to complete and earn a baccalaureate degree in Engineering Science. REPP participants within the program will have the privilege to transfer to any REPP institution. Successful students will understand the professional, ethical, security and social issues and responsibilities, and their impact on individuals, organizations and society.
Associate of Arts in Foreign Language
The associate of arts degree program in foreign language provides students with a foundational liberal arts education with a concentration in the Spanish language.
Associate of Science in Information Technology
The Associate of Science Degree at Gordon State College in Information Technology provides students with the information needed to understand the development, maintenance, and use of computer systems, software, and networks for the processing and distribution of data. This degree program prepares students to solve basic information technology problems and identify current and emerging tools to help organizations. Students will acquire the technical skills to qualify for a variety of entry-level IT roles.
Associate of Arts in Mass Communication
Students who complete the Gordon State College associate’s degree in Communication gain both a foundational liberal arts education and a thorough grounding in the practice, history, and theory of communication sufficient to enable transfer to a baccalaureate degree program or to facilitate entry-level employment opportunities.
Associate of Arts in Music
Students who complete the Gordon State College associate’s degree in Music gain both a foundational liberal arts education and a concentration in the history, theory, and production of music in both choral and instrumental settings sufficient to enable transfer to a baccalaureate degree program or entry level opportunities in music directorship or performance.
Associate of Arts in Psychology
The Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology provides students with the information needed to understand psychological principles and concepts and how to scientifically approach the study of the mind and behavior. This degree program prepares students to succeed in the Bachelor of Science in Human Services at Gordon State College or any other program leading to a career in psychology.
Associate of Arts in Sociology
The Associate of Arts Degree at Gordon State College in Sociology provides students with the information needed to understand the foundational theories, principles, and concepts of sociology and how to scientifically study social forces, structures, interactions, and diversity of humans in society. This degree program prepares students to succeed in the Bachelor of Science in Human Services at Gordon State College or any other program leading to a career in the fields of sociology, criminal justice, psychology or social work.
Associate of Arts in Theater
Students who complete the Gordon State College associate’s degree in Theater gain both a foundational liberal arts education and a thorough grounding in the practice, history, and theory of the theatrical arts sufficient to enable transfer to a baccalaureate degree program or entry level opportunities in the growing stage, film, and entertainment industry.
Associate of Arts in Visual Arts
Students who complete the Gordon State College associate’s degree in Visual Arts gain both a foundational liberal arts education and a thorough concentration in the production of visual arts in a number of creative media sufficient to enable transfer to a baccalaureate degree program or entry level opportunities in the broad area of design.
